#1 In Best Mini Quadcopter Drones
Our Best Mini Quadcopter Drone - The Hubsan X4 H107L
This category was extremely difficult to decide on as you can get small, very small, and absolutely tiny quadcopter drones in the ‘mini’ space. So, we first had to decide which drones should be ‘in’ and which should be ‘out.’
We decided that a ‘mini’ quadcopter had to be no bigger than the size of your hand, give or take.
Then it all depends on what you’re looking for in a mini quadcopter; size, price, value for money, durability, spares availability, ease of use, indoors or outdoors or both, beginner or experienced flyer, flight time, charge time, range, etc.
So we’ve taken all that into account in our reviews…
And, as much as it was a very close-run thing, we’ve selected the Hubsan X4 H107L as the best ‘mini’ drone overall and here’s why…
The key feature that makes it the top mini quadcopter drone in our book is its versatility: it works for beginners, intermediate and experienced pilots; is small enough to fly in any room or office; it’s extremely stable but very responsive too outdoors, and overall great fun to fly; a tiny quad with a huge performance!
First, let's take a look at what you get for your money:
And here are just some of the features that make the Hubsan X4 H107L our top mini quad:
Note: The Hubsan X4 H107C is the same aircraft but with an on-board video camera. This is in our top 4 quadcopter drones with camera.

First, let's take a look at what you get for your money:
- Range: around 100m / 330 feet.
- Motors: 4 x coreless brushed motors.
- Quadcopter body: lightweight, durable airframe with LED lights.
- Dimensions: 3 x 3 x 1 inches.
- Transmitter: 4 channel 2.4 Ghz transmitter with LCD screen - requires 4 x AAA batteries (not incl.)
- Battery type: 3.7v 240 mAh Li-Po on-board quadcopter battery.
- Battery recharge: 30-45 minutes.
- Controls: 6-axis flight control system with digital trim adjustment buttons.
- Flight operator modes: Normal & Expert.
- Flight time: 6-8 minutes.
- Comes with free USB charger, extra prop blades, mini wrench, and instruction manual.
And here are just some of the features that make the Hubsan X4 H107L our top mini quad:
- It’s ready to fly out of the box. Just charge the Li-Po battery; put batteries into the controller; insert the Li-Po battery in the drone; place the drone on a flat surface; switch on the controller, and you’re ready for lift off.
- The tough quadcopter frame with propeller guards means it’s very durable and can handle lots of crashes. And if you’re new to quads you will crash a lot at first!
- It has clever ‘normal’ and ‘expert’ modes of control for beginners and intermediate / experienced flyers…
- But it’s very responsive too; in ‘expert’ mode every flight becomes a fast, exciting, fun-filled adventure. It goes where you send it and you can even do rolls, loops and flips. You’ll soon be maneuvering in ways that’ll make your jaw drop!
- Because of its size, weight and high speed you can fly it in winds that other multi-rotors can’t handle.
- Replacement parts are cheap and easy to get and can easily be replaced. This is a very popular quad so spares are widely available from hobby shops as well as online.
- Overall, the Hubsan X4 H107L is a very robust, stable, yet highly responsive mini quadcopter drone that’s an absolute dream to fly in its own right…
- But it’s also a top quality budget multirotor to get valuable experience on before committing yourself to a more expensive, larger machine.
Note: The Hubsan X4 H107C is the same aircraft but with an on-board video camera. This is in our top 4 quadcopter drones with camera.

#2 Best Mini Quadcopter Drone - BLADE Nano QX
The SAFE™ sophisticated control software keeps it self-stabilized in ‘stability’ mode, so that it keeps it upright at all times. And, here’s the genius, if you have a problem just let go of the joysticks and SAFE™ will automatically bring the drone back to a stable hover. This is such a useful safety feature, especially if you’re a newbie.

#3 Best Mini Quadcopter Drone - Syma 11X
Syma builds some of the finest quads on the market and they've hit a home run here in our book. Extremely stable but the controller lets it down somewhat. That aside, the Syma 11X is a very accomplished micro quad. Great value for the money.

#4 Best Mini Quadcopter Drone - Estes 4606 Proto X Nano
If it was just about size this, the Estes 4606 Proto, would win, it's tiny! And great fun as a toy. A downside is it's just for indoor use, due to its size and limited fly-time.
